Ballad of Despair

~ Ballad of Despair ~
“In my dreams she still doth haunt me
Robed in garments soaked in brine
Though in life I used to hold her
Now she’s dead, I draw the line…”
Mysterious Clementine…
The fear in you was the hope in me
The tears you cried were a haunted sea
An underwater graveyard in the twilight between us
Where you were the first of the lost ones to die
Now help me find the path to where you are…
For my enemies have torn me away from the windows of the night
Burning down the widow’s walk around my wasted body
Replaced it with a glittering sign, inviting every red-eyed whore
Pouring out my darkened soul, released it with a jagged spike
Draining dry the healing tides from oceans of your innocent heart
Bound inside one broken spirit, yours and mine
In peaceful moonlight hid from view, my only lifeline back to you
Lost guardian of my tortured mind
By whom my tombstone unknown shall soon reveal your return…
Oh my darling Clementine
They've forced me blind into the cruel daylight
To be the scarecrow in an endless field of rotting gore
In a seabed strewn with untold millions of abandoned baby dolls, but only
one alive
I was the hated one cursed to survive
With fading mirages of heartbreaking faith, I have prayed for rain
For the rain to bring a relentless flood
For the flood to wash us all away, and bring me down to you
All the way down to stay
’Til we're lost and gone forever
From this field of endless sorrow
Take my hand and I will follow to whatever we shall find
In one final separation of the darkness from the deepest, saddest night
