King of Nothing
By CrowsOmen
A king adorned in jester's clothes,
A kingdom in it's final throes,
A palace made of weathered bone,
A single man with heart of stone,
An empty feast of tasteless air,
A mournful state and thoughtless stare,
A wish, a plea for Death's embrace,
But kept alive through heartless grace,
He soldiers on through toil and strife,
His torture is this broken life,
For what better punishment is need,
To judge his dark and sinful greed?

Ha, thanks Rebs! I've been a little busy lately, and only just noticed. I'm really humbled by the fact that I got a poem of the day. Poetry had always been a hobby and a form of personal self expression for me. It's never something that I shared, and to find out that other people can enjoy my work is truly a joy.

Indeed, what better punishment is needed. When we get judged, and we do get judged, the court of public opinion is always the harshest one. I love how you make your words flow together and how the rhymes add a bit of a sing-song feel. Consider me a fan of yours. Great job, darlin'. Rebs:).

Honestly Rebs I'm quite flattered that a writer as excellent as you are would be a fan of mine. I don't even really consider myself to be much of a poet. And that's honestly not me fishing for compliments, it's just a statement of fact. I see all these other poets who write such powerful work, and I'm truly in awe. I would be lucky to snag poem of the day here on Dark Poetry, not to mention the wonderful poets on other websites. I'm just happy to be included.
