My Cinderella

By Eadgar Anton Crowe

In a wood led by lantern
My search is underway

Elizabeth, an angelic canter
In soul as well as name

For the hatred of other girls
Was hid away

I cry and fear by candle light
But still my wreaking brain
I know the shutterings of my heart
Will not see her safe

By night and day
And night again
I am irked

And despite my love,
From my search
I return

Alone and vain

Black Forest I proclaim!
Return my love at once
Or witness our flame!

Again the trees are mocking me
So a torch I have brought

Oh you will be my cinder Ella
Amongst these burning trees
And in the forest that once dwelled here
Our fires will never cease
