Dead Ends

By SirEnders

The lies you told, such clear memory
Emotions as blank and cold as emery.
No longer held by mortal bounds
Yet hearing every and all sounds.
The crushing of the longing wishes
Audibly torn by wolves, so vicious.
Time running out, no time for love
Surely there is no one up above.
Dead ends again and again and again
Accidentally stumble upon the den.
The pups come out to investigate
But the alpha is pulsing with hate.
He lunges and you move, running
You run, the maze seems to be humming.
Another dead end, all hope is gone
You are hunted, like the young fawn.
Awaken from the alarming dream
Or are you cold, floating downstream.
Nothing is a dream, nor reality
Life is just one big joke to me.
This maze will be the end of us all
No matter if you run, walk, or crawl.
The wolves will corner us all eventually
Let them tear you to pieces, helplessly.
We lose everything and gain so little
This life is evermore so fragile and brittle.
Nevermore will the crow leave our doors
Evermore will we all rot to out cores.

Some superb rhymed couplets SE with almost an extemporaneous feel to it as though lead by the rhymes (I do that frequently and with sometimes, very unexpected results) - cheers! - Dan ",,, and the strength of the wolf is the pack" - Kipling

Thank you, I have been writing with this rhyme scheme ever since I was little. Thank you for your kind comment and again thank you for reading. Enjoy your day, sir.

Thank you, I love Poe. He is basically what got me into writing poetry when I was very young. Hearing "The Raven" made me smile over and over.
