Sadistic Lust

By Damon Tarloth

Frigid caress of burning desire.
A Razors Edge, Cold steel liar.
Brutal beatings, A tender kiss,
Danger flashes,  Euphoric bliss...

Painful dreams, Heartfelt cries.
Silk and satin, Seducing lies.
Somewhere between.. Pleasure and pain.
Shameless lust, Darkened stain...

Extremes and opposites abound in this short but effective poem DT. Guessing we abhor mediocrity and predictability too perhaps. We are a confusing package to unwrap - cheers! - Dan

For the most part but not always, I see mediocrity as a failure in ones self. As many times it comes from giving the least of yourself, doing the minimum to get by, working just enough to continue on, applying the slightest effort needed to escape complete failure! For the very few situations that we find ourselves in that were uncontrollable, inevitable, preyed upon, ruined by unforeseen forces &/Or circumstances, or some bad choices that were ( unforeseen, forced, betrayed, preyed upon, loss induced, ect.. ) that placed a person in the category of "mediocrity" in their eyes. Those instances I don't see that as mediocrity as that is just a specific time in that person's journey. So they have not always been or will always be at that point, because they continue to put everything into whatever they do or strive for! That Spark is anything but "mediocrity" /Grin . . . . But for the most part "mediocrity" is all around us as too many don't have that spark, too many want to be the same, because of their own insecurities & fear to let others see their differences! And I personally see sameness as boring, and it hangs out with mediocrity much of the time... There are some that look like they are sheep and the same, but actually are anything but that. At first glance you will most likely miss it though. As they are that way because it's who they are, and not because it's safe, normal, or even to fit in. It's just them... Those people may technically be "mediocre" per the definition, but not in my eyes. As those same people could be different or more, but they are showing who they really are, comfortable, and would be living a lie, miserable, and fake if they tried to be different. As they would be doing it to change how others viewed them and doing the same thing as many others do when trying to be like everyone else and fit in... The last part of this message might be very confusing, and probably to in-depth than I needed to be... Thank-you for reading and commenting! It is much appreciated... Damon Tarloth

I think you are referring to those who are too busy living / working, to pay attention to the socio-political: the word police, the dog whistles, the mind games. Those most irksome to me are the ones who just "got lucky". I know - chance favors the prepared mind. But the elitist cognoscenti who would seek to control us based on undeserved accomplishments. Usually genetic accidents. Cheers my friend and sorry to have missed this earlier - Dan
