'Bloodstories', vol. 4- blackout

By Jessica Orr

the power went out
 no big deal; some inconvenience
 but it ended up being
 the death of me.
 ______

day 1:

getting hit on at the grocery store;
 not unusual but his eyes,
 crystal black and being drawn in;
 luckily the crying baby
 shook me from my trance.
 ______

day 2:

lines are in front of stores
 but people aren't going out
 because of the attacks;
 I hope the lights go on
 by tonight.
 ______

day 3:

the radio signal
 went dead just now
 with stories of gangs,
 some mass psychosis;
 I don't answer the door anymore.
 ______

day 4:

they came deep in the night,
 I think I heard my neighbor
 firing his gun;
 then silence before they
 got in my house;
 I watched from the attic drop-door,
 I think they were human once;
 under deformed brows,
 several legs and arms,
 and so many eyes;
 I shifted and made a noise...
 did they hear me?
 ______

day ?

I think I am dying
 as there is no food;
 I hunt during the light
 but the creature eat us
 and also eat regular food;
 I sleep a lot,
 and it's starting to get cold
 at night;
 I'm praying for the army to come,
 or even another survivor...

if you find this diary,
 please know I did my best;
 try to get it to my family-
