My Brother Smokes Cigarettes (for B.J.)

By NRoseJ

My brother smokes cigarettes,
I found them in his room,
Now I fear, his impending doom.
They could make him sick
And possibly die;
His time left alive,
Quickly passing by.
I wish he would stop,
And never smoke again,
So he will always be around
To be my best friend.

Author's Note:

This was inspired by my son who was 6yrs. old at the time. He had found a pack of cigarettes in his 13yr. old brother's room, and was upset. He knew cigarettes were bad, and was worried about him. I helped him to write this.

    You really hit a home run with this one, very strong message! My little boy is currently 6 yrs old, he talks about how bad cigarettes are every time he sees one on the ground somewhere. I smoked for 22 years, I quit 3 and a half years ago, for him. That was so sweet that your son cared about his big bro like that! Priceless is the heart of a child...........

    Thanks Peyton1! When my son was little, and his older sibs friends would be seen smoking, he'd say, "Smoking isn't good for you, you shouldn't do it." He would catch them off guard; almost like, they didn't expect to hear that from a young child, and I also think, that he made them feel good, because someone cared. Congrats on being smoke free! I am for 5yrs now!
