Somewhere

By Leineco

   Somewhere in the shadows
   banished from the light
   a glimmer of her beauty
   is fighting for its life.

                    Somewhere in the silence
                    smothered by his doubt
                    an echo of his brilliance
                    is clawing its way out.

Somewhere in the wastelands
abandoned without hope
remnants of lost innocence
dangle from a rope.

Somewhere in the tides of time
                    lost in a swirling eddie
                    an ember of our passion
                    is glowing bright and steady.

Somewhere in the wilderness
hostage to convention
the essence of insanity
is plotting its ascension.

                    Somewhere on a distant shore
                    trapped without their wings
                    the sirens of destruction
                    croon enchanting songs.

  • A former member wrote: Wonderful rhyme and flow in this poem. The use of a questioning first line in each stanza works very well.
