Ashes and Dust

By Meadowhawk

Ashes and dust
countless tiny flecks
gray and dry
cast
into the indifferent breath
of a cold and callous wind

Voiceless pieces
of a broken spirit
they drift in lonely silence
over dark and empty byways
just nameless moments
of a forgotten life

Abandoned shards
of a lost
and wandering soul
tumbling along
desolate roads to nowhere
vainly searching
in pitiful sadness
for comfort
they'll never find

Ashes and dust
the scattered remnants
of hopes and dreams
tiny flakes
sentenced to eternal wandering
through a world
that has kissed them goodbye

...this is profound in its sadness. a blessing for all the wanderers who have been 'kissed goodbye'...
