in ways that break hearts.
By eidos
I used words that doubled as boxing gloves
the
night I told you that I couldn't do this anymore.
The way your head
rocked back with each blow to your chin
made the way my knuckles cracked
under the pressure
seem a little less meaningful. So you spoke with
words that
doubled as a punching bag. Taking everything I threw at
you
with a slight wince. Like air escaping from a seam.
when
you breathe. God, how I hate
the way you breathe.
