Bruises and Bandages

By Phantasmagoria

You traveled with me on my path of shadows,
Even though you knew there was a better road.
My hand was never lonely on that journey...

You longed for warmth while I kept you in my falling snow,
But my survival meant more to you than your own.
Every danger I stumbled upon,
You were there to take the hit.

The ice never healed your wounds,
But the cold was where you found me
And I was so scared of the light.
You never had the chance to return.

My piano path turned you into a man of grief,
Every step was a broken key.
My songs of sorrow tainted your happiness,
Yet you remained by my shoulder.

Our ribbons of sadness entwined,
And became the rope we held onto
When there was nothing else to grasp.
I turned you against your own joy.

You were my umbrella
Even when the hail became unbearable.
I stayed unharmed through every thorn bush
'Cause you sacrificed your skin

And even managed to pick me a rose now and then...

I taught you the harmful acts of a blade,
And your virgin wrists became tarnished.
You slayed each of my nightmares,
But never did you think about your own fear.

Your heat kissed my frozen lips
Inbetween the time of your every heartbeat,
But it was never enough to thaw my icy core.
I was too far gone in the dark winters.

I'm so sorry for dragging you down with me.

In the end you took my hopeless suffering
And smothered your promising future.
You payed your life for my transgressions
And I never had the chance to say...
