cancer stick

By danica mcdonald

smoke fills my lungs,
inhale, exhale,
letting my thoughts leave and disappear like the smoke in the air,
so peace full,
so calm,
until i smash the butt into the wood,
ending the smoke off the end of my cancer stick,
all comes flying back like a broken dam.

A cancer stick indeed. Brings back memories of my smoking days.

Hi DMD perhaps "all comes flooding back" to prevent a mixed metaphor in the last line. For some reason this made me want to burn one again, cheers!
