Forbidden Love

By redfurrydragon

The scar is wide, the wound was deep,

The echoes past, alive in sleep.

What we shared, our souls combined,

Our love eternal, bodies entwined.

What seemed to consume our lives in dream,

For me in truth, my heart does scream.

If only once, your lips could brush

a whisper near, a gentle hush.

Your arms upon my shoulders loft,

a contrast gentle, your skin so soft.

Your hands find pleasure, my brown locks played,

your harp of pleasure, now old and grayed.

Your eyes hold mine, a well of souls.

The embers of life, afire like coals.

Your voice, a melody inside my mind,

a music box, for me to wind.

Your breath upon my grizzled cheek,

a sweet caress, a kiss so meek.

Your trembles fierce, a fever high,

Your eyes now wet, begin to cry.

I cannot my love, it is not right,

a union thus, cannot take flight.

'Twas never meant for you and me,

to share a life, despite our plea.

I too have pain, my heart asunder,

my feeling for you, a power like thunder.

Were it not for our dreams in twilight's din,

This love we share, would never win.

You feel it too, though longing bides,

your heart to me, your tears as tides.

To ease the pain, what can I do,

my love so strong, a hold on you?

I cannot speak, my throat is tight,

a whisper soft, upon the night.

My love, my life, I answer her,

My soul forever, I do confer.

So long as we live, in this our world,

my heart is yours, my hopes unfurled.

I will forever be, thy Dragon Red,

yours to will, or yours to wed.

As time goes by, in our age advance,

a time may come, perhaps a chance.

Although it appears to be just so,

in dreams it remains, the pain you know.

Destiny changed to guide our way,

our hearts not spared, our love, dismay.

If the wrongs were right, time has no rule.

But, alas it is not.  The world is cruel.

Be this as true, for it is real,

No other alive, can my heart steal.

Forever yours will it remain,

Through times of sun, and times of rain.

Your hold of me, exists in dream,

The grip is tight, such love extreme.

Forever more will know the truth,

Our love holds meaning, in ageless youth.

We can love here forever, for us alone,

Not buried in lies, but moonlight shone.

To split apart, our soles divide,

Two halves of one, a light to guide.

Our flight together, a fair white dove.

Our strength it lies, inside our love.....

Your words ring true inside my heart,

Our love will never be torn apart.

It may be quiet and hidden away,

But, as I, so you, do seek the day

The time we share our lives as one,

The stars will shine, and pale the sun.

The night as noon, will be our sign,

An eclipse of rules, forsaking time......

Inspiration for me is often brought by a tearing of the soul...something desperately desired but not allowed...

This was extremely well done and shows many poetic strengths, if perhaps slightly repetitive in the second half, but that could be me too. Much enjoyed, thanks and welcome to DP.
