What am I to you?

By AllenTaylor

What am I to you?
The guy that reinforces the fact that you are loved?
I'm stuck in this cycle and I don't know what to do
Addicted to your highs you're my drug.

One dose of you and I'm projected to cloud nine
But then you're off to the next
But him, your other gets to say
"Your mine" It's obvious it's not hidden in your texts

Am I just a fool being toyed along in the game?
Suddenly loved when the two of you fight
You know I'll come when you call my name
To embrace you and tell you it's all right

I'm a convenient fix when he's not around
The boy you cling to and hold
Truth be told, my heart hasn't found
The respect it deserves, this pain, is old

Can you think of anyone but yourself?
You ride on the backs of all
I'm always the one you claim for help
But I feel my patience, my affection and love
From your fingers are begging to fall

This is so familiar. Playing second-fiddle doesn't do any good for your heart. It hurts to see this happen. I am sorry this happened to you. So much for saying "I love you" every day, huh?

I felt the pain as I read this, Ive been used one too many times and believe me, I know it hurts. Just keep writting!
