Best Friend

By SmuggledOranges

You talked to me all night,

My heart sped up, when you came into sight.

You were my best friend,

I didn’t want these feelings to end.

My parents said you were too old,

But it was too late, my heart was sold.

I didn’t expect you to feel the same,

My feelings, I couldn’t tame.

Best friends for four years,

Losing you was one of my biggest fears.

You fell for her,

I was jealous, sure.

But you were in love with a great girl,

Too bad, just the thought makes me want to hurl.

You’re always happy and full of joy,

That’s exactly what I wanted for my boy.

I wouldn’t have it any other way,

But, I still hope for that one day.

That day you fall in love with me too,

The day where you say, “I love you”.
