...but you said

By HadassahDare

I saw you speak so flawlessly
saw you stuff the excuses into my head
saw you drift away and get distracted

--..but you said you loved me
and I believed every word
...but you said you loved me
and I forgot what I was worth. --

I saw the mark on your shoulder
I heard the distance in your voice
I felt the hole getting stronger
I knew the truth despite your lies.

--...but you said you loved me
and I believed every word
...but you said you loved me
and I forgot what I was worth.--

I heard all your promises
I heard you say the guilt would kill you
I heard you sobbing when I said go away
I saw the pain in your eyes
and the smirk on your face

--...but you said you loved me
and I believed every word
...but you said you loved me
and I forgot what I was worth.--

And you knew I believed you
and you heard me cry
and you saw my tears
and you felt my pain
but you still, you still walked away..

...but you said, you said you loved me.
