Second

By HadassahDare

Everytime you come to me
I remember I'm 2nd choice
Every word you breathe to me
makes me lose my voice
makes me lose sight of what I should see.

-Second place was never for me
but you've got me trapped.
I'd fight for you if I could,
but 2nd place isn't for me.-

I can't give in to you anymore
Running from you is all I know
It makes me 2nd guess what I'm living for
I know one day I'll have to reap what I sow
Everything in me screams for you but...

-Second place was never for me
but you've got me trapped.
I'd fight for you if I could,
but 2nd place isn't for me.-

Close my eyes at night
and all I see is you
and I know, I know all you see is her
it makes me question everything
and I want you so badly but..

-Second place was never for
but you've got me trapped.
I'd fight for you if I could,
but 2nd place isn't for me.-

Second wife probably not a good analogy to your poem. Avoid losing the #1status if you can stand the test of time, and the slings, arrows, etc.; best wishes.

I'm not really trying to be famous, just published, and I write more than lyrics and poetry. I've written short stories and I'm working on a novel. It's a dream, a goal, what have you. By the by, not a second wife here. First and only.

Hi H.D. - give a look at "Who are you and I" by broken all over again - because I just gave her a thought on poets and money. Second Place is something all second wives often contend with all their lives, unfortunately - from one who knows.
