Ritual

By Wiccad

The air smelled of sandalwood and vervain
The windcatchers spin slowly and deliberately
As if burrowing into old knotted wood
The chimes touch each other gently, quietly
The bushes drip scents of lilac and wet soil
Wolfsbane over the threshold thick with green ivy
To ward off angry spirits trying to enter
The ritual stone is adorned with gifts of dandelion leaves
And brightly colored strings and ribbon
The candle flames lick a little to the right
Casting shadows onto the stone monuments
And the hot wax drips into pretty designs
Wicker men and golden goblets of fresh water and pomegranate juice
Slices of apples and citrus treats fill the empty spacesĀ
Hooded shadows larger than life walk clockwise circles
Chanting quietly in hypnotic rhythm, the drums keep a steady pulse
The coven now perfectly attuned....one mind, one thought, one motion
Senses heighten as the vibrations grow stronger
Trance like fixations as the trees speak their wisdom of ages
Nature will show us our lives and their stages
