By not an addict

Maybe I was born to be an addict
...only I wasn't very good at it.
I haven't popped a pill
or hit a rail
in longer than I can count these days...

but something's always got me hooked.

see right now,
it's the fresh mountain air.
or hurtling down toward the valley
on a blanket of snow

put me on a board
with muse in my ears and the sun at my back
and i'm an addict again,
nothing more.

it's just that these days
the chemicals are already in my veins
i don't have to snort
hell, i don't even swallow.
i just strap in, crouch down, and ride.

hello euphoria.
