A Child's View on Our Religion
By melodies revisited
I wandered into a church today.
By the podium stood Pride and
Gluttony
Gluttony's mouth was hanging ajar
Begging to be
fed, the monsterous child
He looked at me with peircing eyes
That
seemed to consume part of my soul.
Pride fluffed her golden
hair and frowned
Down at me through icy eyes so blind
She refused
to come from her lofty perch
As she sniffed at me in distaste.
I looked to the rafters to see Sloth and Envy.
Sloth
stood, or slouched lazily, and gazed at me
With half-closed lids that
barely showed
His grey eyes, also blinded like his sister
He
groaned at me and went back to sleep.
Envy glared at me, her
green eyes open
And furiously she hissed in my direction
Her
nails sharpened into deadly claws
She envied me, though I had little
to envy.
I turned to the offering plate and saw Greed
He curled around the golden plate like a snake
Hissing again at
me and smiling with teeth
That were ground to tiny points over his
tongue
He beckoned me to give my soul to the plate
I shuttered
and turned to see Lust blocking my way
"It is lovely to see
you," she hissed and pressed
Her naked body to my shaking form; she
was warm
Her hair swirled around me and I pulled away
As she
turned back and placed her hand on the door.
A red light filled
the room as Wrath entered.
He roared in my face, breath smelling
of dead bodies
He snickered when I did not move and sneered
At
the others around him; "We rule the house of God"
He raved with a
smile that made my skin crawl.
They all took their seats in
the front row as Church began.
As the reverand began to preach,
I waved to the Sins
And walked out.

The seven deadly sins ruling the church. It couldn't have been said better. So many churches can't be trusted and religion becomes more and more shady. Excellent job.
