You said goodnight without an "I love you"

By melodies revisited

You said goodnight
Without an "I love you"
And I almost cried

I don't want to say it
To your face, but
I want to hear your voice

Say those words again
More than anything
That the world has to offer

Please contact me again
And let me hear you say
Those three words

Just a "nite" was all
That I have to go on
And a statement

That you aren't going
to sleep tonight
Or go to bed yet

Just come back to me
Tell me you love me
One last time

Before my heart shatters
From lack of your presence
And I shed the tears

I swore I wouldn't cry.

  • A former member wrote: your poem brought tears to me. i was the one that didn't say those words, and he begged. it was the last time i ever heard his voice. three words mean so much said and when left unsaid they can feel like a thousand knives right in your heart.
