Exit Wounds

By DescendingDown

Love
In it's corrosive nature
Seeps into cracks. eating concrete hearts
& crumbling walls. in the wake
Of broken backs, this burden is bleeding
phantom beauty from starless nights. almost like
the skies are dying.
& the pitch black lacks the substance
to absorb. & beneath the ruins of these walls.
I find shells of friendly fire.
regret in bullet form. still warm enough
to sear the edges of my open wounds.
Spitting epitaphs on this pit of bones
Because my closets can't handle the skeletons
left after love took the form of
masochism.
I piece together the illusion of slowly dying
in jigsaw precision.
& I'm breaking.

I disagree, dear. When two work together, the finished product never belongs more to one or the other. This was spawned from your idea, your theme, your tone. Take credit where credit is due. :)
