Innocence

By johntaiyu

Something died
that icy night
in slow long time coming waves
all boiled over
in the beating of a lifetime
left him
on his knees
in a pool of blood and rum
the note
stink burned into his crusty basted skin
the body buried
under cherished hoarded love notes
like smuggled diamonds hidden away
from the brown shirts
vowing forever never
to let in love
again.

I miss reading your words. This is so heartbreakingly sad, yet so powerful!
