Heave

By brokenbandagedbetter

The battle that rages within is consuming all that is calm
I cannot seem to catch my breath for very long

The pitching and heaving of this emotional typhoon
Is making me sick in my gut, mind and soul

I want to break out
To somehow stay above it all

Trying not to be engulfed by all the negativity

I must stay above
I cannot go back there
Back to the angry place
The place that festers hate

When the thoughts come I push them out

But oh they come in waves

They grab hold and refuse to release

Refuse to let me sleep

The struggle to stay above is getting the best of me

I am tired

Tired

Tired

This has the feel of a wild thing in a cage too small--very effective writing, the emotion is palpable.
