Chapter 7 Good Knight, Mr. Bear

By Henry Coldnight

'Damn,'

He had hoped that
it'd never come to this;
He had wished that
he can keep the secret
forever
from her,
who will be living
happily ever after
without knowing
a thing
and he will always be
her protector,
her watcher,
her friend.

'But now,'
Mr. Bear thought
to himself
as he pulled out-
out of nowhere-
an clearly oversized
and overweight
long sword
with magic markings
on the side;
holding the sword
with both fluffy palms,
with one swift motion
he parried
the incoming attacks
that were aiming for
Claire and her friend when they were
walking home from school;

'We were just fine
before she came.'

where their weapon touched his
started to freeze,
covered with ice,
as Mr. Bear's eyes
glowed in silence
in that moment of quickness
they only saw a white light pass
and then their bodies
were frozen in place
and then there was
death.

'Why did she have to come to us?'

The ice shattered right as
they saw that tiny stuffed animal
in front of them
putting the sword back
to wherever
he had been hidding it
all this time.

'Angels
as well as demons,
they can't be trusted,'
Mr. Bear frowned
at the thought
as he turned to face
Claire
and her fear and surprise.

...I've been looking over these small stories a bit; you remind me loosely of the Xanth novels I read as a teen (look up 'Piers Anthony' if you haven't heard of it); very different setting, but the same aura to them; that's a very good thing, by the way... Scholar

These tails are certainly a style belonging only to you, and originality is right near the top in my books, write on.
