Paper Cut-out Dancers
By Efamilia
Feelings turned to words, she wrote
Thoughts no longer silenced, spoke
Things too often left descend
Tears bled from the heart to pen
Of shoulders passing empty halls
Distractions, we pretend, enthral
Little words, “hello†and “soâ€
One to greet, then starts the show
Pantomimes, to pass the time
I’m getting drunk, do you want some lime?
Pretending everything is fine
Maybe so, but it’s just the wine
A ship leaving a breaking shore
I looked back for you, but nothing I saw
A tired show, we’ve come to know
The curtain fell, we just couldn’t tell
Tears bled from the heart to pen
As I read her words
And felt them again
Shaking as I held her note
I don’t write to cope
But somehow
In hope

This is deep. Reading this, I think of rehearsed society and vain routine. " the curtain fell, we just couldn't tell." - touching and profound.
