before the me

There is the living
that came along
for the ride
year in and out

where what goes on
between these ears
got more attention
than anything else &
everything else
put together.

Every once in awhile
even the chatter
gets struck speechless
though

where all that's left
is this moment
right here
right now

before thinking
and before the me that thinks
gets back online
and begins
narrating
again.

open
