Silently Shatter

By Forgotten Angel

There's something in her eyes
telling whoever dares look close enough
that something isn't right,
her soul has never pieced back together.

She smiles for all of the world,
laughing through the pain,
pretending she's fine when
all she does is fall to silent pieces.

Nothing can convince her
to let go of the pain inside.
Held to her heart like a knife
there's nothing to soothe it.

Silently the tears can fall,
unstoppable.
Pain flashes across her heart
leaving her gasping for breath.

Knowing he's gone,
never to hear the laugh she knows so well,
not to see hm again
except in pictures, memories of what had been.

Never to hear those three words
from one of the only men she could ever trust,
always to be a whisper in her mind
"I love you"

Bearing the weight of the world
and the pain of loss and grief,
she can only stand so much
before it all brings her to her knees.

Watch her smile,
know that she's hurting,
try to understand her world has shattered,
and she'll never be fine again.

Gone forever,
forever remembered.
There are some things time
just can't heal.

Reading through this again, makes me want to bury my face in my hands and simply cry until there are no more tears left. ♡♡
