Dumbfounded Blues

By soldier

I'm acting like a stranger
Trying to hide my face
Afraid to show myself
In a familure place

Again and again I turn away
Like I have something to conceal
I don't know what I'm trying to protect
Woman, it's horrible the way you make me feel

So I keep running
Running away from my pain
But how can I
When it's flowing in my veins
But still I'm running
Running away from the truth
But it catches me in the end
Woman, I still love you

I could be a millionare
I could be a bum on the streets
I could be a man at the cornor booth at the restaraunt downtown
But I can't be what you want me to be

I could be a writer
I could be a singer in a play
I could be the lead role in a movie on the silver screen
But I'm still not what you want at the end of the day

So I keep running
Running away from my pain
But how can I
When it's flowing in my veins
But still I'm running
Running away from the truth
But it catches me in the end
Woman, I still love you

I could be faithfull
I could be a lying cheat
I could be a man dying from an adiction he couldn't shake
But I can't change for you, I can only change for me

I could be a loser
I could be right on top
I could be a soldier fighting for a cause he doesn't believe in
I can try and try but I can't be something I'm not

So I keep running
Running away from my pain
But how can I
When it's flowing in my veins
But still I'm running
Running away from the truth
But it catches me in the end
Woman, I still love you

I'm winning a losing race
Woman I hope you get put in your place
No matter how hard I try to escape
This heartache won't get the hell away

So I keep running
Running away from my pain
But how can I
When it's flowing in my veins
But still I'm running
Running away from the truth
But it catches me in the end
Again and again and again
Woman
Woman, I still love you
