Sweet Sorrows *and others*

By ArtemisticSin

Just some shorter ones and a few I had to do for a class

Choice

Ever wanted to drift to sleep, and not awake?
Stay in that one moment of complete peace, total nirvana
Have it follow you for all of your mortal days
This we must face
This life of sorrows and pains bids us not to go
Do you accept the offer, or refuse it rightfully so?

The Parting

Peoples' nature, curiosity to satisfy
Light beheld for a few moments more
The conscious shatters with the first truths said
Thoughts remain, but never spoken
Afraid for what will come
The parting is slow, full of pain
Silent looks call for one another
Where will you go, how do you act?
From whence you came, as your heart itself moves

Eternal Struggle

Shadows consume a sorrowed soul
Light still trapped inside....
The fight continues, eternal struggle
To give in to sleep and peace....
Or fight back, live on against all else
You choose every moment, the will to survive
Don't withdraw, back down
There's always something around the next curve
Luck looks after those who strive
The pain not ceasing, but still one fights
The eternal struggle....
Right and wrong
Life and death

Hunt

Intense, quickly moving
Predator stalks prey
With crafty eyes, wit so sharp
Plans coursing through the mind
A sudden pounce decides it all
Prey begins to run
A flash of fur and prey is chased
Speed begins to show
Capability comes into play
Prey sees this all to well
A sudden burst to shake one off
Snapped into focus, it did not prevail
The victor is quite pleased
The feast commences, nourishment....
for another chase

Naivety

Silly little one
You're so very naive
How do you think this world works?
You sit in your corner throwing stones?
Now we shall put you in your place
Mental anguish, soon you will understand....
This is not personal you see
Merely a business....
The business of life
The golden rule if you will
You fear it all, envy the brave
Doubt all others, this you crave
To be yourself, this you shall not have
We shall see to it....

Storming

Pushing winds, hushing, roaring, roughly calling
Spitting rains, dripping, dropping, slowly falling
Clap and boom of crackling thunder, hiss of lightning quick
Frozen hail clacking, bouncing off a rooftop slick
And the rain persists, softly pattering
Still you hear hail keep on clattering
Heavier rains come to your ears
Reliving all of your worst fears
Cracking trees, crumbling walls
Flooding all on down your halls
But look just beyond the sheets of rain
Sunlight glows, breaking your pain
The storm is calmed, as is your heart
For it had been beating apart
