Left Behind
By Kali Ma
flesh, so soft and fragile
the blood that flows through my veins,
how can we be so close
yet never really together?
The walls of stone and silence
brick upon brick we build them higher,
the mortar of pain glues them together,
til I forget we once ran as one.
Time doesn't heal all hurts,
it festers and poisons the wounds,
a constant reminder of the pain.
Can we tear down this wall,
stone by stone, unglue the hardened
shells of our emotions.
Can love truly conquer all evils,
or are some battles left undefeated?
Tears shed don't bring back the dead,
And some hurts can never be undone.
Time has left us both behind.
I'll never be able to tell you
That I love you
The words are lost to time.

"Tears shed don't bring back the dead, and some hurts can never be undone." So very, very true. Powerful poem.

This has a powerful ending and "til I forget we once ran as one" is a great line. Nice to see you posting, but the implications of this piece are disheartening. ~T
