Tears of War

By SilentDreamer

Early monday morning,
before the rising sun,
I watch you sleep.

I know once the sunsets,
you'll be gone,
you'll fly over seas,
to fighting lands.

Tears well up in my eyes,
as I watch you sleep.

Each night I'll say a prayer,
and send it right to you,
to keep you safe... to keep you alive.

Tears stream down my face,
as the rising sun shows it's rays.

With a heavy heart I lay,
sides racking with slient sobs,
as your strong arms wrap around me.

A small kiss is planted softly on my cheek,
as you roll off the bed and walk away.

Tears streaming down my face.
