Sanctuary beckons

By LordBrosnian

Across the mighty plains of jagged stone she lives in peace
Athwart the Pagan winter glades she walks
With skin so smooth and tranquil like the depths of heaven's seas
retaining piercing strength like hellish rocks

A single opaque flame within the darkness of our world
shielding me from hordes of painful fears
This goddess, in my sight, has but the sweet face of a girl
Who's gentle touch leaves me expelling tears

A great oak in the forest of my soul she rests in grace
Soaring over fearful shrubberies
with beatitude which flows straight through her dark, hypnotic eyes
Bringing all resistance to its knees

A single ray of hope thro'out malignant caves of black
Filling me with fortitude to breathe
A nurturer amongst the dismal shades who roam this world
Beckoning for dead souls to believe
Spread your wings and sore thro' layers of the dismal skies
Until you gaze upon my iron gates
Search thro'out the ruins don't be fooled by all the silt
Beneath it lies a resavoir of fates

My lover - Mother earth had granted entrance to the world
And thrown us to the wood - confused; obscured
The wolves had licked my wounds a'heal taught me the sport of hunt
To kill to fight to live to love assured...Until

One day the forest lit aflame and I was forced to flee
Far away from where my life was lived
Upon the skirts I watched the feral beauty fall to ash
As rumbling pain ruptured beneath my ribs

On my quest to find a home thro' cloud-wept hail and snow
I slept aside a stranger many nights
I needed not their love only the comfort of their bed
and apathy befell their futures bright

With time the tides devoured shores which held my hope for peace
and nestled in so many nests I found
but never did the waters still amid my broken soul
for thro' this rotted flesh my heart was bound
And as the years had passed I'd come to terms with many things
Among them - Those which I had loved to hate
With both feet planted in the ground I dreamt to sail the clouds
Unfettered and beyond this tepid fate

Yet as I stand within these slums I still can fell the breeze
That scent of pine and sap still calms my nerves
Thirsting for those needled trees afar - My eyes were shut
And as they opened chaos left me stirred
While staring to the flower'd flame upon the candle's wick
The pain from what I've lost leaves me alone
But still...the cooing memories of trees can calm my quakes
forever shall they soothe...my thoughts of home
