_No Salvation_

By Kali Ma

Wish I could shed a tear
To relieve this longing
A drop of water to sooth my face
And wash away my pain.

A vision to torment me
of a lake, a river, a puddle
anything to rinse away my sins
and bring life back to this aching body

my throat cracks with thrist
my lips are dry and sore
my tongue swollen and hard
and my head has started to throb

The flames around me flicker and burst
throwing heated sparks to ignite
anything they they touch
with their fiery grasp

the sky brings no salvation
not a cloud breaks the red dull view
dust storms swirl with the scorching wind
that holds no promise of relief

a demon of my imagination
howls constantly in varying octaves
filled with a pain and want so deep
that to hear it brings shivers creeping down your spine

chocking on dust thats stuck in my mouth
attempting to breathe, but only wasping coughs emerge
a smell of sulphur is in the air
lingering with the stench of burnt flesh and hair.

there is no salvation from this place
eternity of thirst, of heat, of despair
is all that you can expect
when you join the ranks of hell.
