This Day

By Saschwann

"Why should I," cries out the crowd
Yearning to be heard, they say it loud
All they want is to have a voice
Not to be told, but to have a choice
The police have approached the seething riot
Telling them to leave and to be quiet
But the people determinedly stand their ground
The officers are beginning to become unwound
They fire their guns into the mob
As their comrads fall the people start to sob
The streets are stained red with blood
Littered with trash, bodies and crud
All the living have gone away
Trying to forget what they saw this day.
