Resurrected From The Ashes

By SorrowSoul

The portrait shattered with untimely desire
The restraints eased and they said be free
The scythe a ghostly image in the distance
Arms of minutes and seconds melted
Everything halted with crippled fingers
Time the nemesis of choices
I’ve betrayed myself and life
Opportunity waits for no one
Sentenced to imprisonment is a verdict of thoughts
Awaken inside and face the shadows you hide
Consequence of failure
I’ve paid this price on previous risks
Appreciative of the past and uncertain future
The present allows reflection through the hour glass
I sit idle no more and watch the sand fade to oblivion
Unstable and unsure
Fear the critic with the loudest voice
Every moment unique, appreciation with pulse
Lingering taste of Earth exhaled with new breath
Dust of ages poured forth into the light of day
Sunlight searing darkness born flesh
Rusted bones forget the steps
It’s been too long since these limbs showed motion
Realization now a secondary response
Lost and forgotten
Search the stars for direction home
Guide me back to future design
With all my possessions
Mind, heart, and soul
The journey begins
This is not finalization
Merely progression
