Death of a Titan
By MightofNight
Woe to the world when Atlas shrugs.
The heavens and skies come crashing
down in razor sharp shards.
The ground sways and bucks, swallowing whole
all who cannot escape the chasm and chaos.
The shifting causes panic,
transfering all of the pain that Atlas has felt.
No one to help, no one to aid
his support of heaven and Earth.
Silently laughing, he watches the world crumble,
devestating the screaming masses.
No one cared for Atlas,
Now Atlas cares for no one.
The sheer relief, to belay the world,
to reduce the pain and stress.
For all he cares is to remove the ache,
the pain of no one caring.
He isn't sad; he doesn't remorse.
He only smiles in sadistic glee at their turmoil.
The skies collapse as the people
sigh in regret of all their evil past deeds.
The lack of things done,
the failing view of future,
the lack of thought for others.
Nothing exists now save pain, remorse, and darkness
for all know what has befallen.
Woe to the world, for Atlas has died.

interesting...it kind of makes me think of something i read, about how america is the lost atlantis, and continues living under the karmic flaws of it...till we get it right. we disregard the weight of the world...on our shoulders...nice write.
