Chicago

By AbjectColloquialist

Its only been a year, but it seems so long
Since I've heard the diesel engines song
those rural folk dont know the taste
of watching your back, of stepping over waste
I feel the pull, I feel it strong
to hear the diesel engines song

Love brought me to the place I live
The towns given me all it has to give
Good friends and times will still remain
Now I seek surroundings, more germane
I tense to surge, I am not wrong
I need to hear that diesel song

The rolling fields here, verdant and green
The mooing of cow, not the moan of machine
The lifestyle here is repetative and dull
Not the livening chaos, the evenings full
That urban land is where I belong
Living in that diesel song

Now I return to the place of my birth
To reprove my love, to reapply my worth
I'll wrap myself in smog, re-adjust my pack
I'll replant my roots, but I will be back
To the bay that is green
To the whole hipster scene
None of you will be left behind
Your faces and actions burnt in my mind
If you ever need me, send a note or write
I shall return within a fortenight
I may delay, but I wont be long
Im just dieing in my diesel song
