Icy death

Icy Death
the goosebumps travel too quickly
turning smooth skin into valleys and mountains
making hairs stand up straight
and cold known
chilling the blood
slowing circulation
extremitties turn blue, then black
crumble and fall off
open wounds frozen shut
crying tears of ice
breathing deep with no inhalation
lungs turned into a folly of oxygen
nothing moving, everything slow
too slow to handle
years in every second
make my tired heart grow old
snow never looked so painful
six sided flakes of agony
surrounding and incasing me
there is nothing to grab
to pull me away from the darkness
glaciers are too smooth
too hard too loveless

the last four lines are brilliant...I also love the pace...it's almost fast moving, but then I had to slow down to read every frightening line..

whoah... anyone considering climbing Everest should read this first. Scary as hell - great descriptives. I really liked "snow never looked so painful". Great stuff. Fox
