Goodbye

By Qwendragoness

I shift back
Withdrawing from the light
My heart prefers the cold
And the promise of eternal night
The light, an oath of possible hope
Which only instills fear
In the depths of my core
I walk in the shadows
Of my nightmare world
To step out and into a dream
Is to hope and be crushed again
I will remain in my cloak of despair
Hope will breed fancy
And fancy will become chance
To run like a fool into another wall
Crushing my heart after my fall
So I say to you never again
Not even under the promise of a friend
On with my life I must go
Embracing my nightmare world
Which is my comfort
On to tomorrow
Leaving you, my yesterday behind
