- fabricated fiction/my loss from the beginning

By Tagen

black benighted, I run past
wooden gods and trees, blinded
by moonlight - eternal shrouds
like doubt cloud my mind, and vision.
(envision).
...Have I fabricated your affections?
I step past my fables and fiction,
and search in the dirt
on hands and knees
for bare, basic facts.
But, they elude me.
You, a mystery.
That crept almost unwelcome
into my darkest fears.
I push past you fast, and babble to you
like a foolish brook...
Don't look back
into my eyes
I'm afraid
of what you'll find.
A hideous me, a monstrosity,
with my ashen heart -
never once watered
by love's eternal springs.
I begin transcendence
into fallacy.
Forever pulling a fak.end smile
that glances right past
you, dashing stranger..
The tide I felt
Ebbs now so low.
I feel the spark
dim, then go
.....out.
And it's as though
it never flumed.
.
.
.
Daybreak,
and I am left
with a hollow curse:
fear and fondness,
well rehearsed
By all my past love
that has burned
and died.
