Painted Lies
By DeificLightning
Fake smiles and eyes,
Do deceive and lie.
False niceties and promises,
Do cut inside.
Painted smiles that hide
Knives dipped in poison.
Scripted words that disguise
Biting stabs of treason.
Why is it so hard
To find the right.
To find the real.
If only they could drop
Their cruel, blank masks.
To show their true side,
And give up all the lies.
To abandon their false leads,
Else they lead more souls astray.
Into endless disappointment,
And trust-less disarray.

Really enjoyed this. Besides being able to relate to almost every line, I thought you worded it nicely. Lots of truth in these words.

Thank you. I feel like one of the main goals of poetry is to speak the truths most people dismiss.

Yes, this felt almost whispered... very close and very true.

Oftentimes the deepest truths can only be whispered. Thank you for reading.
