Falling For Angels

By maliceman

I was but a young man
struggling in the streets of Babylon.
A cess pool of drugs and sex
that i took no part in.

Surrounded by chaos;
I would shut myself in my room,
if I could even call it mine,
to hide myself from my tormentors.

Sometimes, you would visit me,
an angel misplaced,
and you were kind to me.
Maybe you were my destiny.

But I was stuck, and didn't know it,
in a dead-end love gone wrong,
bound by the implications
of a single night.

We parted ways, nary a farewell,
as I descended into depravity.
It took me years to find my way,
and break those shackles that bound me.

And then one day a familiar face,
and tired eyes that mirrored my own.
Oh sweet angel, hath fell from grace.
Take my hand, I'll take you home.
