The Child and the Monster

By Paradoxology

~ The Child and the Monster ~
(The Original Paradox Of Human Life: It was a sin for Adam to eat the forbidden
fruit...but it would have been a far greater sin had he refused to eat it.)

Through the silence, sad and violent
Dead and dark, but so alive
Close your eyes
Then awaken to the warm, seductive
Calm, destructive voice from in between...

...And end the dream, oh little one
             My valentine betrothed
Lay a rose upon the gravestone of your soul
             Just for me
Join your shadow to the sea
             Beyond the sand
             Into the waves
             And take my hand
             And drift away

“So help me God,” whispered the child,
“But I remember you, I do
The horror nights, the scarlet lights
The morbid maze of shifting shadows
Bending to your will
Until the night the glowing golden sword
That spilled your poison, split your skull
’Cause you were underneath my bed
And you were dead, but now reborn
Beneath my skin...”

...It’s where you are, it’s where I’ve been
It’s who you were, and who I am
It’s all the faces ever seen
It’s all the voices in between
And now I have returned for you
To take you as my own, my love
For two shall be as one, that foolish game
This mortal trash is all the same!
             Wasted sons and painted daughters
             Paralyzed by guilt, by shame...

“...Fattened for the doomsday slaughter
No commandments, no regrets
Gouge their eyes with loving lies
Take away the guilt, the pain
God or fate? Keep it safe,
Spin the Bible...kiss the snake
Bow the knee?
We have no god but Freud!”

             And Einstein!
             Undivided
             Darwin's lords of war decided
Hell becomes the heart of love
Spike the wine with madmen’s blood
             Freedom screaming!

“Heartless pleasure!
Spit upon your hopeless death
Drown your sins in poisoned waters
Shed your skin to pay this broken race of harlots
You created
Follow in!”

             Never follow anyone!
But let our oath be said
’Cause hand in hand this wedding ring shall resurrect the dead
Let's you and I go bathe ourselves in mud
And leave your conscience butchered in a trail of holy blood!
             Hold the dove...

“...Slay the raven locked below this whitewashed tomb!
Dark - the innocent distorted
Light - the innocence removed
From this night, this tragic fantasy
My lonely silent song
Where the beauty is truly in the eye of the beast
And the beholder - both disguised
Not the angel of light
To whom I speak”

             Worthless weak, no one's child
No one's puppet on a string
             Not today, not to worry
Sure as hell a day is looming
Gonna tear your little heart out
Splice it with a witch's soul
             Wrap around your rotting body
             Crushing tight and tighter still
             ’Til every single bone explodes
’Til every last drop of your undefiled blood is on the floor!
             And nevermore to sing
             Forever you will be
             The puppet on my string

And then the child screamed,

“IT IS FINISHED!
I’ll never let you go
Sweet Jerusalem
My valentine betrothed
My dying rose...”

             ...And my Father,
Let me rest in your love...
Until the third day when I rise...
             To never sleep again...
Through 2000 years of endless pain...
Of which this crown of thorns...
             Made me king...
             Of which this cross...
             Made me worthy...
             Of which your love...
             Revealed only in her eyes...
             Made me follow
