Tumbleweed

By felicity0444

As a sea bird
Only falls
To feed on passing fish
Until their silvery
freshness is gone
beneath the blackness
So is my soul adrift.

As a butterfly lands
on every flower it crosses
and then flits to the next
when the pollen has lost its color
 its shine  and its crispness
its usefulness has blown away.
So is the person you have become.

So is the life I lead
The life of the flower
And the fish
With the slightest scent of wonder
As I watch you drift as you wish
A life like mine
too short indeed
And unjust
as you’ll soon see.
Spent in the service of others
more important than me.

The third last line gave me nice perspective into the piece. Beautifully painted. :)
