Absence in Abundance

By Brandon

You've caught on to me
Wise to all I want to be
Coursing this land as a recluse
What I want, no other use

With an ache in my chest
I've laid all hope to rest
It's not you, it's those dwelling in my head
The Sunday scent, and never leaving bed.

My eye catches a ray of sunshine
Sheets undisturbed, you are not mine
Your apparition watches me sleep
Teasing me with all the lonely weeps

I promise to keep you in my heart
While we spend this time apart
Keep out the sadness, know I'll miss you
Tethered forever through the love I gave to.
