The Wasp and the Widow

By Brandon

This isolated corner away from it all
The nest i have built swarm until fall
Across the room a Web that you've spun
We'll meet when our homes come undone

Neither you nor I serve any great purpose
I watch as you spin webs like the prey deserved it.
I've observed with a keen eye
At how you lead your mate to die

We are the minor inconvenience adorning the doorway.
Today both of our homes were swept away
Your eyes gazed upon me as the others of the past
I feel your draw and make my way in your path

That night the poison flowed heavily through us both
Decisions to drown between us, and I quote
"I'll love you till the day I die"
You're the last thing seen before I closed my eyes.
