The whispering words in the wind
By imfine
I've lived through so many horrible words:
"You have cancer."
"You are fat."
"You are ugly and noone wants to look at you."
"I'm sorry, your baby no longer has a heartbeat."
"Hey, I called to tell you he commited suicide."
"Hey, I called to let you know, he passed away last night."
"You can't have children, I am sorry."
"I'm leaving you."
"You have substantial hearing loss"
"You will never amount to anything"
"Your dreams are unatainable."
"You should never be a mom because nobody could love you!"
"You will be in a wheelchair before you are 30."
"Just go back to drinking from the bottle."
"You are dead to me."
"These new meds are going may make you really sick."
"I hate you!"
BUT, I have lived through some beautiful ones too:
"You are cancer free!"
"Despite the odds, you are pregnant."
"It's a boy!"
"I will love you and your son forever and always, no matter what."
"You are amazing, and I love you.'
"I won't give up on you."
"Will you marry me?"
"I love you mommy."
"Mom, can we just cuddle all day today?"
"You are stronger than you realize."
"You are a surviver of all the hell life has thrown at you."
"You are beautiful."
"Congratulations graduate!"
"You have the job. Welcome to the team."
Some days the horrible words are all I can hear.
That is when I listen for the beautiful whispers.
The horrible words can be so loud.
But the whispers in the wind can blow them away.
I just have to listen to the wind blow.
