Shave away the shame
By beamish
He drags the straight razor down his cheeks
His
attempt to shave away the
shame
The stains left from the night before
The booze
The broads
The indiscretions
Layer after layer fall away
The beard
Then skin
Now blood-the stains remain
Tears drip mixed with the pain
Promises made to himself
have been misplaced
Lost somewhere along the way
Now the sun and shame burn the same
He splashes his face
Jack Daniels burned his skin
He was trying for his mouth
But his tears blocked his vision
He knows the razor will cut it away
That the booze will play it's drunk games
But he will remain the same
Full of shame
with only himself to
blame

Great imagery in this piece, I like the notion of shaving away the shame...with the notion of the look into the mirror in the morning after. Nice! Ciao, T/S
