Dimestore Ghost

By felicity0444

I see a ghost
In my view.
At times he seems real
And true to me too.
Then like a wind
He blows away
Gone to me now
Until another day.
He browses my shelves
My dimestore jewels
My trinkets and baubles
All to his delight too.
I see his right hand
The dime that he holds.
The whole of his fortune
For just one happy home.
There’s fear in his eyes
Which one to choose
It has to be today
He’s got nothing to lose.
Sadness takes over
And his eyes cloud over gray
The wind is coming again
and he knows he can’t stay.
Each day is a mystery
In which I never know
Will I see my ghost again
Or just emptiness today?
My ghost craves attention
But only on his time
Which is all too important
To spend one whole dime
On a trinket or bauble
No matter it’s worth.
He looks beside him
At what is not there
Someone to love him
And just be there.
He feels the dime in his pocket
But he can’t let it go
For without his worth
He has nothing to show.
